Some of the tests (especially of the client-server applications) requires losing the network connection problem to happen. This can be done by two ways. First one - unplug your network cable :) But if you don't like to soil your hands, this may be done in another way
1. Get to control panel
2. Choose 'network and internet'
3. Choose 'View network status and tasks' under 'Network and Sharing Center'
4. Click 'Change adapter settings' on the left-hand pane
5. Right click your current active network adapter that controls the traffic you'd like to interrupt and choose 'disable'
You have just simulated network connectivity problem in Windows 7. But make sure first that you are granted with local administrator rights.
